Tie Breaker!
The F1 Fundraiser Spring Tournament Series made its' final stop at Queen's Landing today. Another chilled start greeted teams at the ramp as temperatures hovered in the mid forties at 6am for blast-off. The bite has slowed the past few weeks but remains consistent throughout the morning. As the day heats up, fish are getting finicky. Today's larger fish were noticeably "light" and seemed hollow. It's definitely time for the feeding to start to pack on some weight for the heat of summer. Timing will be the key. So get those big baits ready, we are right on the edge! In a "squeaker" today, Dave Anderson and Brian Anderson took first place winning a tie-breaker with their biggest fish. The pair hit the scales with 9lbs. and 14ozs anchoring with a 2lbs. and 6ozs. largemouth to edge out Robert Burns with his matching sack anchored by a 2lbs. and 0ozs. largemouth. Dave Stevens had big fish for today's F1 tournament weighing 2lbs. and 12ozs. Great job guys! Thank you to all of our teams that joined us this spring for our F1 Fundraiser Series! Many great things are still to come! Until then... keep 'em hooked!!!
Sack 'em Up!!!
It was a beautiful day on the lake today for The F1 Fundraiser Tournament Series. Teams hammered numbers on the lake with some near forty fish for the day! Get out there and take advantage of the early topwater bite. It's on fire right now! Hit that quick limit on top and work the shallows to cull through the pounds! Sacken' today's strongest sack, Dave Anderson and Brian Anderson banked $820 with 14lbs. and 2ozs. With 12lbs. and 8ozs, Ken Wright and Wes Beaudry took second place and $350. Today's big fish and $130 went to Luke Clark with 3lbs. and 8ozs. Today's tournament sends another $340 to the F1 Fundraiser. Thank you to each of our anglers that joined us on Norman today! The final F1 Fundraiser Tournament will be May 15th from Queen's Landing at 6am.
Another Soaker!!!
Another soaker today as the skies opened up and soaked anglers in the F1 Fundraiser Tournament on Lake Norman. Thankfully, the fish were biting and kept teams busy. Russell Hoyle topped the field with his five fish limit weighing 14lbs. and 4ozs. Chris Curtis and Roy landed big fish for today's tournament with 3lbs. and 4ozs. Tristen and Shaun were "tougher than woodpecker's lips" fishing in t-shirts, shorts and flip-flops straight through to weigh-in! Thank you to each of our dedicated fishermen that joined us today in our continued efforts to stock F1 Largemouth in Lake Norman! We invite everyone to join us next Saturday, May 1st for our next F1 Fundraiser Tournament. Blast-off is at 6am from Pinnacle with a 3pm weigh-in. Until then... keep 'em hooked!!!
Keep It Rolling!!!
The first F1 Largemouth Fundraiser Tournament of 2021 blasted out of Queen's this morning. We had plenty of company playing round-robin at the ramps as three tournaments overflowed the parking area. Thank you to each of the other groups, all tournaments blasted safely and on time. Great thing Norman can handle the heavy traffic. Two club tournaments, the F1 Fundraiser, The TBF adult series, TBF youth series, the ABA and the SAF youth series all rocked the lake hunting there strongest limits! Another chunk and reel day hauling through the muddy waters. When the bite gets tough, throw what you know. Today's best five belonged to Alfred Kiesling Sr. and Alfred Kiesling Jr. The pair swung for the fences slinging A-rigs for 13lbs. and 10ozs. Their anchor fish weighing 3lbs. and 14ozs. took home big fish for today's tournament. Ounces behind, Luke Helms and Kevin Brown landed 12lbs. and 14ozs. for second. It was a great day for a greater cause today continuing with our efforts to raise funds for the F1 Largemouth Stocking Program. Thank you to everyone that made the trip and helped the fundraiser today. Huge thank you to Rick Wingate for his $200 donation to the program! Join us for our next F1 tournament on March 27th at Pinnacle Landing. Blast-off is at 7am! Until then... keep 'em hooked!!!
Just The Beginning!!!
As the marathon of fundraiser tournaments comes to an end, keep in mind that this is only the beginning of our journey to improve this wonderful fishery. Today was the third and final event for the F1 Largemouth Stocking Fundraiser for 2020. 23 teams blasted from Queen's landing just before daybreak. To give perspective to the reach of our efforts, teams have traveled from West Virginia for the past two weeks to compete with local anglers and donate to the F1 Stocking Fundraiser. If we ever questioned the diversity or the habitat of the lake, simply scroll through today's photos and notice the smallmouth bass that hit the scales! Lake Norman is an impressive lake and with the continued teamwork and donations through the F1 stocking program and NC Wildlife, the lake can only get better! Today's donations and raffle added $675 to the fundraiser efforts. With a strong limit, Brian Bird and Chuck Kelleher sacked $1450 for first place with 12lbs. and 6ozs. Local hero and amateur videographer, Brian Morgan and Jose' landed $620 for second with 11lbs. and 12ozs. David King and Jerry Bobbins grabbed $230 for today's big fish with a 4lbs. and 4oz. spotted bass. Thank you to all our anglers that have joined us for the F1 fundraiser series. We would also like to send out a huge thank you to Rob Hedrick and his sponsor donations as well as Michael Hobson with Bending Tips Bait Company and Michael Matthews with the ATV Webwacker for all the generous donations to our raffle drawings. The Carolina Crankers thank our wonderful sponsors for raffle donations for today's raffle as well! Without your dedication and generosity, today's raffle would not have been possible! Every angler went home with top tier tackle and accessories as our way of saying thank you for being a huge part of a great cause! Keep your eyes open, more good things to come for the 2021 season and the ongoing efforts with The Lake Norman F1 Largemouth Stocking Program! Until then... keep 'em hooked!!!

ON 'EM!!!
Week number two of the F1 Stocking Fundraiser Tournaments is in the books. What an awesome day at the lake! Low 40's in the early morning hours gave way to bluebird skies and mid 70's after midday. The lake was definitely rocking as the F1 tournament and the CATT qualifier both blasted out of Pinnacle while 60 High School teams launched from nearby Queen's Landing. The heavy stained waters from last weekend are clearing and anglers fished multiple variances of water color across the lake. The bite has really picked up since last weekend and kept anglers busy culling small spotted bass while looking for the largemouth lurking nearby. Bag weights are improving but the larger bite is still elusive as only two fish over four pounds were brought to the scales. At least 50 fish at or below 2 pounds made the scales. An average running 2 pounds is the very reason the F1 Largemouth Stocking Program was started. In the years to come, efforts from the program can potentially bring the average size up and yield larger anchor fish to bag limits. As weigh-in approached teams stacked into the Pinnacle lot waiting to tip the scales in their favor. On 'em as always, Craig Chambers and Derick Cummings got 'em with 14lbs. and 10ozs. The pair found a mule for an anchor and took first place and big fish at 5lbs. and 10ozs. Decided by big fish and only 2ozs, Kyle Cunningham and Scott Thompson weighed 11lbs. and 12ozs and grabbed second place with their 2lbs. and 12ozs big fish. With their 11lbs. and 12ozs sack, John Parker and Shane Lineberger took third place with their 2lbs. and 10ozs. big fish. Always make sure to weigh that big fish guys, those ounces are vital in a tiebreaker! Congratulations to all of today's top sticks! Hope we all get ON 'EM sometime soon! Thank you Rob Hedrick for the awesome prizes to be raffled today with the 50/50 raffle! The entire fundraising effort and each of it's donors are humbled and would like to share our deepest thanks to 3 outstanding young anglers that donated their savings to the fundraising efforts at today's weigh-in. Maverick Huffman, Maddox Huffman and Matthew Lehn each donated $100 cash and each of their ages in pounds of coins! That's $300 cash plus 33lbs of coins! You guys are the best! That brings today's donations to the fundraiser to $1177 plus 33lbs of change! Join us next week for round three of the F1 Stocking Fundraiser Tournaments at Queen's Landing. Blast-off is at 7am. Until then... keep 'em hooked!!!
Bending Tips and Ripping Lips!!!
Determined anglers overlooked the naysayers and hit the ramps at Pinnacle this morning to fish the first leg of The F1 Largemouth Bass Stocking Fundraiser Series. Smiling faces from The High Point University Fishing Team were there early and greeted anglers, ready to lend a hand. These excited young men and women made quick work helping with registration and checking livewells before teams launched into the last moments before daybreak. Yes, the heavy rains took their toll on the lake, but sunrise painted a brighter picture for the day. Most trash and debris had made its way to the shores leaving cleaner paths to venture out on the lake. Regardless of location or water clarity, fish were happy to cooperate. Multiple baits and presentations took both largemouth and spotted bass for the tournament field today. Combing deeper waters than most, George Lauster grabbed a stack of cash with 12lbs. and 10ozs. George sealed his first place finish deep dragging a custom jig from Bending Tips Bait Company. He hammered home each hookset with the new Icon Series Rods from Cashion Rods. With a 3lbs. and 2oz. tiebreaking largemouth, Russel Hoyle and Jerry Pruitt took home second with a total of 9lbs. and 14ozs. Chad Wilson and Gene Wilkins teamed up for big fish with 4lbs. and 4ozs. Great job out there today! As promised, we held our first onsite 50/50 raffle with proceeds splitting between drawing winner and F1 Stocking Fund. With an act of extreme generosity and a heart as big as he is, our winner of the raffle, Brad Woodard donated his winnings back to the F1 Stocking Program. Thank you Brad! With everyone's efforts and participation today as well as a $100 donation from William Frazier, our first F1 fundraiser was a huge success! Today's events and donations added $700 to the F1 Stocking Program for next spring's fingerling purchase! Thank you everyone! All of today's teams would also like to say "thank you" to The High Point University fishing team! We look forward to sharing the water with each of you soon! Round two of The F1 Series will be next Saturday, November 21st from Pinnacle Landing. Blast-off is 7am and entry fee is $125 per boat. Big fish is included and payback is one spot for every 9 boats with $100 going to the pots and $25 going to the fundraiser. Until then... keep 'em hooked!!!
